Chelson Meadow

Chelson Meadow DrawingA 62m clear span by 66m long by 7m high waste transfer station in Plymouth. This project will be capable of handling 140,000 tonnes of rubbish a year and was commissioned for Viridor to compact residual rubbish before sending it to a local landfill site.

The steel frame for this WTS is suitably protected against the damp, humid and aggressive environment generated inside these buildings. It is fitted with a misting system to minimise the level of dust created and will allow delivery of waste to be carried out under cover.

Powerday

Powerday DrawingSeveral buildings were constructed for Powerday at Willesden junction, including waste bins, waste transfer station, materials recycling facility and offices. The WTS and MRF buildings utilise the same 40m span and the site is set out to benefit from rail and canal transport systems to avoid the impact that deliveries would otherwise have had on the local road network.

In addition to the Client's environmental concerns with regard to transport the site is also powered by a sustainable biomass energy system.

This facility serves all industry sectors and has an annual capacity of 1.6 million tonnes, making it the largest of its kind in the UK.
